D2K Cycle hits the road on June 6th & 7th
For the third year the D2K Cycle is ready to hit the roads on June 6thand 7th. The charity cycle from Dunleer to Kilkenny hosts an amazing 120 riders this year. All there to raise funds and awareness for The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (imnda.ie) and Paul’s Fight 4 Life (www.facebook.com/paulsfightforlife)
Paul Lannon, the organiser, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in May 2011. Originally from Kilkenny but now lives in Dunleer with his wife Sandra, Paul says:
“It’s great to see so many local riders giving their time so generously to help me and the IMNDA. Not only will they complete the cycle of 180km but they have put in a massive amount of training.”
Paul said, “We would like to thank all the local sponsors, Vita Coco our hydration sponsors, anyone who has donated and everyone local who has supported us. We will hit the road early on Saturday morning in four groups in order for a group finish in Kilkenny between 5pm and 6pm. Some will cycle back on Sunday but all riders will meet to cycle back into Dunleer for the triumphant return at 5.30pm! The Dunleer Summer Festival is taking place this weekend also and we would encourage everyone to welcome the riders home after the Duck Derby, which starts at 2pm.”
The D2K is running in conjunction with the Dunleer Summer Festival, run by the Tidy Town Committee. There will be plenty to do over the weekend with arts & crafts, film club, the duck derby and entertainment around the village.
