New Taxi App that donates to Charity

PRESS RELEASE

Launch of revolutionary Cab App

Hail a Cab and Give to Charity!

cab:app, the revolutionary national black cab hailing app, has formally been launched and is set to benefit a number of leading charities in Ireland and the UK.

The app is designed for iOS and Android users and, since its soft launch and testing, has already generated over £11 million of gross revenue from 360,000 transactions paid to the 9,200 professional taxi drivers.  At launch, cab:app is the only mobile booking and payment app which connects passengers in over 90 locations with black cabs across the UK and licensed taxis in Ireland – a number set to increase swiftly.

cab:app’s key features for passengers and charities are:

  • Disability friendly (black cabs are the only ones that are 100% disabled-friendly)
  • Cab:miles collected on every journey, redeemable against journeys or can be donated to charity
  • Ability to pay using cash, all major debit/credit cards, PayPal and contactless/Apple Pay and chip and PIN enabled
  • Ability to pre-book and fixed price journeys over eight miles
  • Security of tracking and sharing journey details
  • Emailed receipts
  • Special notes for driver assistance
  • Licensed, knowledgeable drivers

cab:app has selected the six leading charities as its initial partners to whom cab:miles can be donated:

  • Action for Children
  • Barnardo’s
  • Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association
  • LauraLynn
  • Penny for London
  • Target Ovarian Cancer

Commenting on the creation of cab:app, co-founder, Jane Van Aken said:

“cab:app connects communities through a business model that is driven by rewards where drivers, passengers and charities all share in its success.

“Through our cab:miles programme, passengers can choose from the six leading charities we have selected as our initial partners, to benefit from the loyalty rewards they will receive on every journey simply by inputting the relevant charity partner code.  This is a win:win for all concerned as charities earn extra revenues whilst it costs the consumer no more than the fare would ordinarily have.”

Peter Schrive, co-founder of cab:app added:

“Cabs are integral to the transport infrastructure, connecting the community with road, rail and air. Cab:app ensures the public can now enjoy the convenience, safety and accessibility associated with the iconic black cab from one national app.

“To this day, black cabbies offer unparalleled local knowledge and service with the assurance that passengers are getting a fully licensed, vetted and insured cab that can also use bus lanes and take the fastest route.

The founders of cab:app are:  Peter Schive, a London cabbie, inventor and co-owner together with his founding partners Derek Stewart, technology investor and ex senior executive at BNY Mellon, and Jane Van Aken, ex healthcare professional, have been collaborating with leading technology, media and payment partners to create cab:app.
