A Voice For John Charity Cycle
May 23rd, 2019
A relay cycle from Malin to Mizen Head is taking place on Saturday 22nd of June to raise funds for the IMNDA.
John Gayer, is a 55 year old veterinary surgeon who lives with his wife Miriam and three children in Co. Mayo. In summer of 2017, John experienced some problems, the symptoms quickly escalated and in January of 2018, John received the devastating diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
In the very short space of time since – John has gone from a hard working father & vet to near total paralysis. John is now confined to a wheelchair and needs full-time care, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which is provided by his wife, family, neighbours and friends at his home in Claremorris.
In order to raise the funds for the IMNDA, members of the Monaghan family & close friends will be cycling from Ireland’s most southerly point, Mizen Head, to Ireland’s most northerly point, Malin Head, on Saturday 22nd June. Their plan is to complete this 600km journey in 24 hours in a relay format.
Their target is to raise €50,000 for IMNDA, who are vital for helping John and many more who suffer from this extremely debilitating disease. To support the cycle please check out their Facebook Fundraiser HERE.
