Climb with Charlie – 1 year on

It is 1 year on from the incredible event that was Climb with Charlie, where people all over this country went on a journey with Charlie, Tiger and Claire. Some confronted the mountain that was Croagh Patrick, while others took on more personal challenges. We will be forever grateful to everyone who climbed their own mountains and extended the hand of friendship to Charlie, Claire, Tiger, the MND Community and Pieta House.

On the 1st anniversary of this phenomenal event, we would like to tell you about ‘one’ of the projects achieved because of the wonderful funds raised by #ClimbwithCharlie.

We are delighted to announce we were able to employ a 6th nurse, Áine McFadden to the IMNDA Nursing Team, thanks to Climb with Charlie. Aine brings with her a wealth of expertise and nursing skills, and will be a beacon of light and support to all our community.
When we received the funds from Climb with Charlie, we surveyed those living with MND to understand their needs, and access to more nurses was a key finding.

From this we created the Charlie Bird Development fund to ensure our community were getting the right supports to help them cope with MND.

The supports funded by this initiative and Charlie’s incredible bravery and fight, will be a light that will continue to bring hope and assistance to all those that need it for years to come. Charlie shone a light of awareness on MND and the MND community. The funds raised means that no one will have to face the journey of MND alone, no matter how tough the climb may seem – we will find a way together.

On April 1st 2023 we marked the anniversary by joining Charlie and friends in the Phoenix Park. It was a very special occasion as it gave us time to reflect on all that was achieved.
