In order for the IMNDA to comply with the Charity Regulator’s Fundraising Guidelines (launched September 2017) it is our duty to look after you, our fundraisers. We endeavor, with your help, to follow best practice and to operate in a transparent, effective and professional manner.
Our Public Statement of Compliance with the Fundraising Guidelines
The IMNDA is committed to complying with the Guidelines for Charitable Organisations on Fundraising from the Public and has formally discussed and adopted the Guidelines at a meeting of the governing body on 7th March 2018.
We at the IMNDA have considered the Statement and we believe we meet the standards it sets out.
Our Donor Charter
As a charity seeking donations from the public we the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) aim to comply with the Guidelines for Charitable Organisations on Fundraising from the Public.
Our pledge is to treat all our donors with respect, honesty and openness.
We commit to being accountable and transparent so that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the IMNDA.
Our Feedback and Complaints Procedure
The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) is committed to ensuring that all our communications and dealings with the general public and our supporters are of the highest possible standard. We listen and respond to the views of the general public and our supporters so that we can continue to improve.
The IMNDA welcomes both positive and negative feedback. Therefore we aim to ensure that:
- it is as easy as possible to make a complaint;
- we treat as a complaint any clear expression of dissatisfaction with our operations which calls for a response;
- we treat it seriously whether it is made by telephone, letter, fax, email or in person;
- we deal with it quickly and politely;
- we respond accordingly – for example, with an explanation, or an apology where we have got things wrong, and information on any action taken etc;
- we learn from complaints, use them to improve, and monitor them at our Board.
Our Trustee Resolution
The IMNDA’s Board of Director’s adopted the Guidelines for Charitable Organisations on Fundraising from the Public at a Board Meeting held on 7th March 2018. They agree that the IMNDA will follow the Guidelines as set out by the Charities Regulator. This agreement was recorded in the minutes of the Board Meeting.
The Guidelines for Charitable Organisations Fundraising from the Public, (the ‘Guidelines’) issued by the Charities Regulator in September 2017, are intended to assist trustees of a charity to run the charity effectively, avoid difficulties in respect of fundraising activities and comply with their legal duties. The basis for these ‘Guidelines’ is in the Statement of Guiding Principles on Charitable Fundraising (the ‘Statement’), that was developed by a steering group established in response to the Charities Act 2009 following extensive consultation with industry experts and stakeholders led by the Irish Charities Tax Reform Group (now Charities Institute Ireland) and supported by the Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs.
The ‘Guidelines’ have also benefited from the input of a Consultative Panel on Charitable Fundraising which was set up by the Charities Regulator in 2016 at the request of the Minister for Justice and Equality. Charities Institute Ireland was a member of this Consultative Panel.
