Medical Card to go before Cabinet

The IMNDA welcomes the news that Medical Cards will no longer have to be renewed every six months as a new plan is to go before Cabinet. The Minister said “that it is cruel and upsetting’ to force people to renew the card and he is looking at putting this off for three to five years or leaving it open ended.

The IMNDA did a recent survey and it appeared that people had great difficulty in renewing the card with 39% of people with the condition indicating that they had a negative experience and felt the process was stressful when re-applying for the card. So lets hope this recent news puts an end to this debacle.
