Get Sporty and Support the IMNDA this Spring

Operation Transformation’s Sergeant Mick Mulcahy was putting RTE’s Joanne Cantwell along with some fresh faced IMNDA recruits through their paces at Donnolly’s Hollow in the Curragh Camp in preparation for the Flora Mini Marathon. The RTE stars were on hand along with Corporal Gina Byrne, Murial McIntyre, Maeve Leahy and Stephanie Byrne to encourage women of all ages to get out and active this spring.

The Flora Mini Marathon is the world’s largest women’s race with over 800,000 ladies taking to the track to run the race down through the years. So why not join Joanne and women from all over Ireland this June bank holiday and run the race to make a difference? To register for your mini marathon pack please call the IMNDA on 1800 403 403 or email fundraising@imnda.ie  .

In Ireland, one person dies every five days from this devastating disease. MND is a progressive neurological condition that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones. It is a condition that leaves people unable to do the everyday things that the rest of us take for granted. Walking, talking and swallowing may become virtually impossible.

MND strikes people across all ages and there is currently no known cure. The IMNDA provides specialised services for people affected by this debilitating disease such as equipment on loan, financial assistance towards home help, advice and home visits by a MND Nurse Specialist. The association also funds research.

In order to provide these vital services the IMNDA depends heavily on the generosity of the public and friends of the association who generate over 75% of its income. By running the mini marathon and raising as little as €250 you could fund nearly 20 hours of home care help making a real difference to those managing life with the symptoms of MND.
