Sligo gets Rrrrready to Rumble in the Fight Against

February 21st, 2012

White Collar Boxing is coming to Sligo this Easter Saturday in what promises to be a huge fundraiser for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA).

On Saturday 7th April the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ballincar, Rosses Point will be getting ready to rumble as our newly trained White Collar Boxers take to the ring for their moment of glory!

We’re looking for brave and willing men and women of all ages and fitness levels to undertake 6 weeks of intensive training from top class coaches including former Irish Champion, James Kelly. Training will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings commencing on 28th February in Drumcliffe. Don’t give something up for lent this year… take something on!!! No boxing experience is needed.

This event is been organised by Sligo lads Kevin Dufficy and Allan Maguire; both themselves White Collar Boxers! Kevin’s father Jerome Dufficy was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in April 2007 hence his family and friends dedication to fundraising for the IMNDA.

All monies raised will go directly to providing services to people affected by Motor Neurone Disease; an incurable neurological illness leaving people unable to do the everyday things the rest of us take for granted, like walking, talking and swallowing which may become virtually impossible.

The IMNDA is dedicated to providing care for people with Motor Neurone Disease, their carers and families as well as supporting research. As a small organisation the IMNDA relies heavily on fundraising in order to continue providing vital services to the MND community; such as assistance towards home help, provision of specialised equipment on loan and home visiting by an MND Nurse Specialist.
