VHI Virtual Women's Mini Marathon - IMNDA

VHI Virtual Women’s Mini Marathon

June 24th, 2020

The Vhi Virtual Women’s Mini Marathon is more than a 10k event, it’s a fun day out for everyone and it’s taking place from the 1st to the 10th October! REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!

This year, Covid 19 put the brakes on our plans. It was announced on 13th March 2020 that it was postponed and by 28 May we knew that a physical event would no longer be possible so plans were put in place for the first ever Vhi Virtual Women’s Mini Marathon.

We want to offer you a real alternative to your day out in Dublin with our Virtual 10k event. While we can’t all be together, we can still do our 10k collectively, but safely apart. Run, jog or walking the pavements, from Ardara to Arklow, Bray to Bandon, Kells to Kilkee, Your town. Your way. Your 10k.

So what happens on Race Day?

In the lead up to, and on Race day itself, we want you to get involved on every step of the way. We want to hear your stories on your social media platforms. Tag us at #VhiWMM and @VhiWMM on Twitter/Instagram and Facebook or send us your videos and snaps directly

When the big day arrives, you’ll want to focus all of your efforts on having fun, raising funds for the IMNDA and staying in the game – which is why it’s important to know where you’re going and what you’ll have to do before being able to participate.

Join #TEAMIMNDA – we will have our Team fundraising page set up soon! Watch this space.

Choosing Your Route

We strongly recommend that participants take part in a venue close to your home. Our best recommendation of a route begins at your own front door. If that is not possible, check out a local park or green space which is both safe and accessible. Take note if there are any special times slotted out for vulnerable and older members of our community and pick your time accordingly.

Alternatively –

Loop in your garden– Have you the good fortune to have some space that you could lap your garden? Many of us have a tracker of some sort which can help measure the distance and how many loops make 10k! Take care, wear appropriate footwear, and consider changing direction occasionally.

Walk around your block– Venture further and walk in blocks, finding a suitable path to take. Let your neighbours know and you might even drum up some socially distant supporters.

Take the stairs?– Anyone fancy climbing their 10k? Maybe your route is around your kitchen table. Let us know how you’ll be doing your 10k your way.

Print your Race Number

We want to recreate the experience of race day as much as possible. We will be providing downloadable Race Numbers which you can personalise and we’d love to see lots of pictures of our participants wearing their “bibs”. You can customise them with your name, your charity, or a special message to say why you are taking part.
